Exam Validity Period

Level 1 and Level 2 certifications require passing grades on two exams per level. Each level must be completed within a 5-year period. You can access the My Account (member's page) to check the correct validity expiration date of each exam that you have successfully passed.

Recertification Policy

LinuC certification does not expire, but the recertification policy specifies a 5-year period of validity. Status is ACTIVE during the period of validity, meaning that the certification holder is currently active in the field. Status is INACTIVE after the period of validity ends, meaning that the holder's skills are still certified, but may no longer match the skills required for the latest systems.

To extend the period of validity, candidates must recertify within 5 years of previous certification date OR acquire higher level of certification within 5 years. Please note that if you want to regain ACTIVE status after the period of validity ends, you will need to retake and pass all exams.

Retake Policy

If you fail your 1st exam attempt, you may take the same exam a 2nd time (or more times) after a mandatory 7-day waiting period (including Saturdays and Sundays).
Retakes for previous passing grades are not affected by this policy.

※ Please note that candidates who violate the retake policy will be unable to make reservations through Pearson VUE.
